Hi all! Barbara Sessim here.
My long-term readers know that I always have my clients' best interests in mind, and I am constantly looking for ways to improve, innovate, and most importantly, deliver a vast, insightful, and impeccable selection of content for all my clients and readers.
We all know the fashion industry is huge, and we love it all, but the truth is, you have to choose a field in this industry and become the best professional you can be! For those of you who have read my previous blogs, you know my main focus is helping designers launch a successful clothing line (because that's my expertise!), while my clients can focus on what they do best: being designers!
I'll admit that I don't have the strongest background in marketing. But, let’s face it, I’m not a marketing agency! However, the truth is, marketing goes hand in hand with product development and production management, and there’s no successful clothing line without a good marketing strategy. So, delivering marketing content to help you better navigate the fashion industry is part of my goal!
So, some of you may have noticed already, but I’m here to officially break the news! Please help me welcome Rajbir Achoriwala—RAJ! She’s the Fashion Content Marketing queen, and I’m thrilled to announce her as my newest blog collaborator!
Let’s get to know her!
I am a friendly, adventurous spirit with an artistic flair and unwavering loyalty. Life, with all its twists, people, and moments, cannot defeat me. I’m like that runway model who takes a fall, rises effortlessly, and struts forward as if nothing ever happened—stronger and more determined than before.
Born in India, I had the privilege of growing up surrounded by strong, inspiring women—my mother, teachers, aunts, and mentors—who taught me to be headstrong, independent, fierce, ambitious, and nurturing.
When it came time to choose a college degree, I wanted to do it all: culture, biology, food & nutrition, language. But ultimately, I followed my deepest passion and earned a Bachelor’s degree in Textile and Fashion Design.
By the time I graduated, I had one clear ambition: to become the Editor-in-Chief of a fashion magazine.
I was so determined that I didn't even fill out a backup college application. To my shock, I didn’t make the initial selection list. However, through persistence—endless phone calls, polite requests, and student dropout—I finally secured my place in the program and completed my Master’s in Mass Communication.Â
Besides writing for fashion, I essentially wanted a career for a lifetime. I am an absolute fan of my foresightedness in this regard. I knew one day I’d have a family, responsibilities and life that could change. Writing was my career choice as I could pursue it with just a laptop and internet —this was 15 years ago, long before remote work became the norm.
Although I didn’t end up editing a fashion magazine, I stumbled upon a whole career in Content Marketing. I have never had a boring day at work. I get to do what I love – dive into new subjects, understanding diverse markets, and engage with incredible people. Moving to Canada in 2018 to pursue bigger dreams only enhanced my journey.
Despite a full-time career, I’ve embraced every opportunity to stay connected to this industry. I’m fascinated by how fashion shapes our lives—how an outfit can shift a mood, alter a day, and even influence life decisions.
Fashionable or not, the desire to dress well and look good is ingrained in all of us. The nearly $1.7 trillion global fashion market is proof of that influence. What excites me most is the undiscovered possibilities in how fashion is perceived and marketed.
When I met Barbara at an event, we clicked instantly. I was impressed by her expertise in brand-building and attention to detail. I knew we had to collaborate.Â
I am here to share my take on how the right content marketing can elevate a brand from day one. Marketing in the current environment requires creativity, personalization, and relevance to stand out.
Outside of work, my life revolves around my two daughters and my wonderful husband. As an ambivert, I thrive in solitude and social settings. While I enjoy my alone time to recharge and reflect, I also love meeting new people and collaborating on projects.
Apart from being a hands-on mom, I’m also a proud vegan, a green lifestyle enthusiast, a content specialist, a fashion and digital marketer, and an entrepreneur.Â
I am often found in a nook intensely lost in a book, savoring my first sip of coffee, trying new recipes, making elaborate plans to travel (soon), taking dance lessons, strength training and meditating.
